Woodlawn Third Graders have been following Toad and all of his grand adventures while reading excerpts from the classic tale, Wind in the Willows. Today, students designed, built, and raced a motor car that Toad himself would have loved. Lots of pictures our on our Facebook page. #TheWoodlawnWay #ItsSWEETtobeanEagle

Give a Woodlawn welcome to Mrs. Jennifer Layport. Mrs. Layport will be teaching a first grade class this school year and is joining us with over 10 years of teaching experience. Mrs. Layport has taught primary grades for the School Board of Highlands County and a local private school. We are super pumped that she decided to spread her wings and SOAR like an eagle. Welcome to Woodlawn, Mrs. Layport! #TheWoodlawnWay #ItsSWEETtobeanEagle

Our enrollment continues to grow at Woodlawn. After our 10 day count, we were allocated additional teaching units to help accommodate all of our amazing students. We are excited to introduce some of our newest hires to Woodlawn Elementary School. First up we have Mrs. Sarah Mayworth. Mrs. Mayworth has a kindergartener at Woodlawn and has taught at Sebring Middle and Sebring High School. She's joining The Woodlawn Way to support our 5th grade classrooms and we could not be more excited. Welcome to Woodlawn, Mrs. Mayworth! #TheWoodlawnWay #ItsSWEETtobeanEagle

Our Kindergarten Nursery Rhyme unit ended last week and ended it in style! Our kindergarten leaders had visits from special friends they’ve read about in their Nursery Rhymes. Students even helped their characters find rhyming words. Huge shout out to “special guests” for making the magic happen. #ItsSWEETtobeanEagle #thewoodlawnway

Today was our Tall Tale Character Dining experience for our 2nd grade leaders. Students dressed up as Lumberjacks and special visitors like Paul Bunyan, Babe the Blue Ox, Casey Jones, John Henry, and Pecos Bill joined in on the fun while students enjoyed flapjacks and sausage while drinking barrel juice. Thanks to our families for flipping flapjacks as early as 6:30 am and our leadership ambassadors for helping serve. #itssweettobeaneagle #thewoodlawnway

Today we had the opportunity to host our Bus Drivers for breakfast and professional learning! We reviewed our SOAR expectations and how they apply on the bus. We truly value our partnership with the transportation department. Our students’ days start and end with our bus drivers and we appreciate all that they do. They’re a HUGE part of “The Woodlawn Way”! #ItsSWEETtobeanEagle

This golf cart was donated to Woodlawn Elementary School by one of our faithful substitutes. Unfortunately, early Tuesday morning at approximately 4:00 AM, we have video evidence of someone breaking onto our campus and stealing this golf cart. If you have seen this golf cart or have information, please contact the Sebring Police Department or our School Resource Officer, Diego Serrano. Thanks for your help!

We hosted an appreciation luncheon for the School Board of Highlands County Facilities staff. They are the unsung heroes of our district. When things go wrong, they are there to fix it and make it happen. They’ve completed so many construction projects for us this summer and our campus looks great. It’s just the beginning as we gear up for our New Wing. #thewoodlawnway #ItsSWEETtobeanEagle
